About Cliff
Mr. Lancey graduated from Emory University School of Law in 1982, and practiced briefly in Atlanta, Georgia, before opening a private practice in Ellijay.
In 1991, he received an LL.M in Taxation from Emory. He has served as municipal judge with the City of Ellijay, and county attorney for Gilmer County.
Although he has years of experience in criminal defense and domestic relations, he tries to limit his practice in these areas to children of friends who can't seem to stay out of trouble. He represents individuals, business people, corporations and limited liability companies, homeowners associations, financial institutions, guardians and wards, trustees and executors.
Areas of Practice
Probate, Trusts, and Estates
The firm handles the administration of decedents estates and proceedings for guardianship and conservatorship. We prepare wills and enjoy extensive experience in the preparation of trusts, as a vehicle for asset transmission and estate tax planning.
Residential and Commercial Transactions
We represent clients in all facets of real estate settlement, from the negotiation and drafting of purchase and sale contracts, to closing and disbursement of settlement proceeds. We have extensive relationships with real estate agents, brokers and lenders in the North Georgia area.
Business Formation
We have extensive experience in the formation of corporations, limited liability companies and other business vehicles, and offer advice and assistance in the legal decisions related to starting a new business or modifying the form of an
existing business.
Civil Litigation
We represent clients in court in a range of matters including real estate and title controversies, contract disputes, estate and probate controversies, real estate covenant enforcement and defense, construction and mechanic's lien litigation.
Homeowners Associations
We have experience in the representation of homeowners associations and property owners. This concentration includes assisting subdivision associations in collection and covenant enforcement, and the representation of homeowners in controversies with their associations.
